What Is the SpouseWorks Scholarship?
Formerly the MyCAA (Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts) is a U.S. Department of Defense program that provides up to $4,000 in tuition assistance to eligible military spouses. The scholarship is designed to help you earn a license, certification, or associate degree that leads to real employment — work that travels with you, military move after military move.
Doula and birth work are a beautiful fit for military life: the skills are always in demand, the certification is portable, and you can serve families in any community you’re stationed near.

What Is an ETP — and Why Does It Matter?
ETP stands for Education and Training Plan. It’s the official roadmap of your training — the program, the courses, the costs, and the timeline — that SpouseWorks Scholarship reviews before releasing any funding.
Here’s the important part: your school must prepare your ETP for you — it can’t be completed by the student. That’s where we come in. You simply request your plan from us, we prepare it, and we email it back to you ready to upload to your MyCAA account.
How to Use Your SpouseWorks Scholarship — Step by Step
1. Confirm eligibility and create your SpouseWorks Scholarship account. Visit the official portal at mycaa.militaryonesource.mil. Eligibility is generally tied to your service member’s pay grade.
2. Request your ETP from Birth Arts International. Complete our quick ETP Request Form. We’ll prepare your Education and Training Plan and email it back to you, typically within 3–5 business days.
3. Upload your ETP to SpouseWorks Scholarship. Log in to your account, upload your plan, and watch your message box as program staff review and approve it.
4. Request funding for your course. Once your ETP is approved, request financial assistance for your course. Funding is granted on a course-by-course basis, ahead of your start date.
5. Begin your training. After SpouseWorks Scholarship issues your Financial Approval, we finalize your enrollment and send your welcome materials. Your journey begins!
A gentle tip on timing: Request your ETP at least 21 days before you’d like to start, and request funding ahead of your course start date. Giving yourself a little lead time keeps everything moving smoothly.
