Why Both Certifications

Families want continuity, not a handoff. You’ve already built the trust. You know their birth, their preferences, their history, and what they were afraid of. Starting that relationship over with a stranger at week two serves no one. Holding both certifications means you carry the family through the whole transition.

Two kinds of work that fit together. Birth work is on-call and unpredictable — you clear your calendar and wait. Postpartum work is scheduled, hourly, and booked in advance. Together they make a practice with rhythm instead of feast and famine, and a month with no births isn’t a month with no income.

Two ways to get paid. Both certifications are approved by Medicaid, CARROT, and Maven. Two credentials mean two billable services, and more doors open when you approach a hospital, a clinic, or an employer benefit program.
