kimKimberleigh Weiss-Lewit, MA, CD/CDT (BAI), RYT-500, is a leading voice on birth and mothering. As an integral part of New York City and Northern New Jersey’s maternal wellness community, she is  sought out both in private practice and as a speaker and educator.

Kim’s unique background in yoga and applied psychology  underscores her intuitive approach to doula training, helping her students find their individual style and a true connection with their clients. She believes that finding one’s authentic voice is key to fostering the doula-family relationship and that women must feel–above all else–safe and comfortable during birth.

Kim holds a Master’s Degree in Creative Arts Therapy from NYU and an advanced level Yoga Alliance certification (RYT-500) from Laughing Lotus, NYC. She has been on the teaching and educational staff of Devotion Yoga Studio in Hoboken, NJ for many years and is regarded as  an expert in prenatal yoga.  As a birth doula trained and certified  in the Birth Arts International model, Kim attends families both at home and in hospital settings throughout NYC and NJ. She believes there is no greater honor than holding space for a woman to experience pregnancy, birth and motherhood in her own unique way. A passion supporter of a woman’s right to breastfeed with information and unwavering support, Kim has been a La Leche League leader for close to a decade and regularly leads both community meetings and provides individual support to many families.

With a strong drive for social justice for all people, Kim is the Director of Women’s Services for Liberation Prison Yoga, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing yoga to individuals in prisons and jails around the world. Kim teaches both prenatal and postpartum yoga and provides breastfeeding and early parenting support to women living at Rikers Island Jail.  Additionally, as part of Liberation Prison Yoga’s teaching and mentoring team, she regularly leads teacher training workshops with a specialty in trauma-informed prenatal yoga.

As a mother to three children, Kim knows firsthand the importance of community and support for all women throughout the journey of motherhood and she has dedicated her life’s work to a vision of thoughtful, individualized care for all families.
