Beth

Beth Curtis, MSW, CPM, came to midwifery through the birth of her own children. Before midwifery, she was a Project Director of a children’s social services agency in Philadelphia and had a small private practice where she worked with the chronically mentally ill and women and teens that were domestic violence and abuse survivors.  Her path to assisting women in labor started when she became a La Leche League Leader in 2000, then a Certified Childbirth Educator through BirthWorks in 2002, and a then Certified DONA Doula in 2003.  She was also trained as a Labor Assistant though ALACE.  She studied homebirth  midwifery at Joanne Dozor's Art of Midwifery School and graduated in 2006.  After a two-year apprenticeship she earned her CPM credential in the spring of 2008.  Beth is completing training to be a Placenta Encapsulation Specialist through Placenta Benefits and continues to teach private childbirth classes through her business Believe in Birth.
